Valesca brings more than 11 years of experience in labor relations and human resources operations. She works with organizations to develop fundamental labor relations strategies, manage turnover and retention, and improve the quality and caliber of human resources operations in a constantly evolving workplace of multi-dimensional issues and complex initiatives.
Prior to F&H Solutions Group, Valesca was a labor relations consultant for Coca-Cola Refreshments where she executed broad and detailed labor strategy and training for multiple venues throughout the Northeast Region. She maintained regional responsibility for about 1,400 employees and served as a principal labor relations advisor to management at all levels within the region dealing with labor and human resources policy issues.
As a consultant, she fostered positive employee relations efforts throughout North America by facilitating supervisor, manager and employee training sessions. She prepared and assisted management and labor councils with mediations and arbitrations. In addition, she provided ongoing daily guidance to management in interpreting provisions for five collective bargaining agreements on overtime/pay, discipline, work rules and managed grievance procedures. She also led contract preparation and acted as negotiator and contract administrator for these labor contracts. She represented Coca Cola Refreshments in grievance matters and arbitrations throughout the East Region and drafted collective bargaining agreement language, settlement agreements, last change agreements between the company and its bargaining units. She assisted internal and external counsel in preparing for civil litigation and Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) complaints.
Before becoming a labor relations consultant for Coca Cola, she was a division human resources manager for Republic Services, Inc. where she provided human resources support to include coaching and counseling on performance management issues, conflict management, employee investigations and interpretation of employment relations policies and resolution. She implemented and monitored corporate and division policies, programs and procedures within the areas of training, compliance and recruitment. In addition, Valesca oversaw division compliance with federal, state and local laws and relations relating to equal employment opportunity (EEO), affirmative action, Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) requirements, unemployment compensation and other employment-related requirements.
Prior to joining Republic Services, she worked for The Walt Disney Company as a labor relations manager where she provided strategic labor relations guidance and consultation to management. She conducted preliminary research for trends in grievances to develop contingency strategies and analyzed/interpreted data for use in vital company planning. Valesca identified and tailored best practices to ensure effective implementation of agreed-upon strategies, while managing and resolving issues surrounding implementation and providing labor relations policy direction, advice and expertise to operations leaders.
Valesca is currently a member of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). She is also fluent in Spanish.
She earned her bachelor of arts in interpersonal/organizational communication and bachelor of arts in legal studies with a minor in business administration from University of Central Florida. She also has a masters in public administration from University of Central Florida.
